Ms. Lehmann English 2-2A 4 December 2019 Learning About Friends Elizabeth Berg once said, “We are readers probably more than anything else.” Since time is a limited resource, we should carefully choose the articles we give that time to. Dorothy Rowe’s article about friendship, titled “With Friends Like These”, is certainly worth your time. The author’s background contributes to the quality of this article. Rowe’s background makes her qualified to write this article. She has a degree in psychology. Rowe wrote this this article to inform the readers about friendships and how they are good even though we go through ups and downs. She puts in enough detail to make it interesting, and to make the reader want to read more without getting bored. She writes about our friendships, our emotions and our perspectives. Rowe uses 1st person pronouns and internal dialogue. This article is written for a general audience. This article is suitable for basic knowledge. It’s also easy to read and understand what she is talking about. Rowe’s format makes this article look good on the page. She uses section titles in the article, which help it make more sence. She doesn’t skip around a lot, but focused on one thing at a time. The main claim is clearly introduced. It makes clear what the article is about. Row hooks the readers by finding common ground. When Rowe adds the section titles, it makes the article more clearly organized. Rowe does a good job with the transitions. She makes it smooth when she transitions to talk about something new without skipping around. Rowe makes it all make sence and makes her claim very clear. She uses her own life stories to write this article. In my opinion, this is worth reading.
